Severe weather has caused extensive power outages across the region, affecting thousands of properties in the South West.

Utility teams are working hard to restore power despite challenging conditions caused by strong winds, fallen trees, and flooding.

Affected postcodes and estimated resolution times:

- EX5: Expected resolution by 18:00, Sunday 8th December

- EX6: Expected resolution by 22:00, Sunday 8th December

- EX9: Expected resolution by 18:00, Sunday 8th December

- EX14: Expected resolution by 18:00, Sunday 8th December

- EX15: Expected resolution by 18:00, Sunday 8th December

- EX17: Expected resolution by 00:00, Sunday 8th December

As of 14:00 on Saturday, December 7, 120,180 properties remain without power due to severe weather conditions.

High winds have caused significant damage to overhead power lines, while fallen trees and flooding continue to hinder road access, delaying repair efforts in affected areas.

Residents are advised to stay safe by avoiding fallen power lines and reporting hazards by calling 105. To minimise inconvenience, limit opening refrigerators and freezers to keep food cold, and use flashlights instead of candles for safety.

Emma Pamplin, Director of Customer Excellence at the National Grid, said:

“We’d like to thank our customers for their patience as we deal with a high volume of calls. Please be aware that call wait times are currently longer than usual.

“Being without power during a storm can be worrying, and I want to reassure people we are doing all we can to restore supplies as quickly as possible. We are continuing to support our most vulnerable customers on our Priority Services Register.”

To stay updated, enter your postcode on the provider’s outage tracker or call 105 for emergency assistance.
