As Exeter transforms into a festive wonderland, families are invited to take part in a magical, free adventure through the city.
The Countdown to Christmas Trail, launched by InExeter, promises to make this season extra special by combining festive fun with the charm of Exeter’s vibrant cityscape.
Running until December 27, the trail offers participants the chance to explore nine key locations, each hiding a letter that spells out a secret Christmas word.
Once families unscramble the word, they can collect a limited-edition Exeter Sticker Sheet at one of four finish stations: Jelly Charity Shop, John Lewis, Exeter Library, or the Shop at RAMM.
Completing the puzzle also unlocks the opportunity to enter an online competition to win one of five £100 Exeter Independent Gift Cards.
“There is so much magic to experience in Exeter this Christmas,” says Nicola Wheeler, CEO of InExeter. “From the twinkling Christmas lights to the bustling markets, festive shopping, and the wonderful cafes and restaurants where you can celebrate with friends and family. To add to the festive fun, we’ve created a free activity that families can enjoy together as they explore the city and soak up the Christmas atmosphere.”
Families can visit the nine locations in any order to collect letters and complete the festive word. Trail maps are available at Visit Exeter information points, including the Exeter Ticket Office, Exeter Library Foyer, John Lewis (4th Floor), and the RAMM Museum (Garden Entrance).
For added convenience, a digital version is available online. Participants don’t need to finish the trail in one go; they can enjoy multiple visits to Exeter, ticking off locations at their own pace and making the most of the city’s seasonal delights.
Nicola Wheeler added, “InExeter is proud to showcase Exeter as Devon’s ultimate Christmas destination. Through this trail, we hope to bring families together, highlight the best of the city, and add some extra Christmas magic for all to enjoy.”
