Ilumo Digital at the Tech South West Awards 2024
Devon’s tech trailblazers took centre stage at the Tech South West Awards 2024, celebrating ground-breaking innovations and transformative ideas that are powering the region’s booming tech sector.
From world-first sustainable materials to game-changing AI applications, Devon continues to cement its place at the heart of the South West’s £47 billion tech industry, which employs over 18,000 people and is set to grow by 26% by 2027, according to research commissioned by Tech South West.
Now in its sixth year, the Tech South West Awards showcase and celebrate the most innovative, impactful and forward-thinking organisations and individuals from across the region's thriving tech ecosystem.
"The calibre of entries we received this year was truly outstanding," said Dan Pritchard, founder of Exeter-based Tech South West. "The Tech South West community continues to push the boundaries of what's possible with technology, making a positive impact across a range of industries including health research, aerospace, agriculture, artificial intelligence, finance, and more."
Torbay-based 'QLM' took home the coveted Innovation Award, sponsored by Ryan, for their development of advanced quantum lidar cameras. A cutting-edge technology that detects and measures greenhouse gas emissions - a vital tool in addressing climate change.
'ZeroUSV', a Plymouth initiative developing uncrewed surface vessels for a range of applications, was recognised as Tech Company of the Year, sponsored by SH&P.
'Graphic PLC' landed a double whammy, scooping both the Growth and Space & Aviation Awards, sponsored by Ashfords and Cornwall Space Cluster. Judges praised the Crediton-based firm as “an important local employer and hidden regional gem” for its work in aerospace-focused printed circuit board technology.
In Exeter, ‘Intelligent AI’, an insurtech firm with roots in both Exeter and Cornwall, claimed the FinTech Award, sponsored by Access to Finance SW, for their innovative risk management technology.
Meanwhile, the Tech for Good Award, sponsored by Countex, was awarded to Exeter’s ‘South West Grid for Learning Trust’ for their vital work in combating online intimate image abuse.
