Exciting changes are coming to Rifford Road in Exeter next month as resurfacing work gets underway to enhance the road and improve the local cycle route.
Starting in December, the road will undergo a complete resurfacing between Quarry Lane and Ludwell Lane, with high friction surfacing also being applied in specific areas for added safety.
The resurfacing will be carried out in three phases to minimize disruption.
The first phase, from the Quarry Lane junction to Lethbridge Road, will run from Monday, December 2, to Friday, December 13.
Though the exact dates for the remaining phases are still to be confirmed, work on the section from Lethbridge Road to Woodwater Lane is expected to take place in January or February, with the final stretch from Woodwater Lane to Ludwell Lane/Coronation Road planned for February or March.
During the works, Rifford Road will be closed to through traffic, with a diversion route in place to help ease the flow.
The diversion will take drivers through East Wonford Hill, Butts Road, Bovemoors Lane, Dryden Road, Wonford Street, and Burnthouse Lane.
However, residents will still be able to access their driveways for most of the duration of the works, and emergency access will be maintained. Pedestrian access will also be available throughout the project.
Local residents and commuters are encouraged to stay up to date with developments and check for further information on the proposed work areas.

With improved surfacing and better facilities for cyclists, the upcoming works are set to create a smoother, safer Rifford Road for all.
