Otter Garden Centres has marked its 60th anniversary with a generous initiative, donating daffodil bulbs to 32 primary schools across the region.

This gesture, part of Otter’s "60 Good Deeds" campaign, celebrates the company's six decades in business by brightening up local schoolyards for spring.

The family-run business approached 32 schools to participate in the Little Daffodils promotion, offering a complete package to ensure each school will have a bright display in the spring of 2025.

The package includes a 20kg sack holding approximately 300 daffodil bulbs, 100 pots to plant the bulbs in, averaging three bulbs per pot, plus six 20L bags of peat-free compost.

MD Jacqui Taylor said: “We really hope the children will enjoy planting the bulbs and watching them grow. Daffodils are one of the early indications of spring and always bring cheerfulness after the long winter months.

“They’re relatively easy to grow, so we look forward to seeing pictures of lots of gorgeous displays of daffodils in early March 2025.”

Now is the best time to plant daffodil bulbs before temperatures really start to drop. This allows the bulbs to form roots, which helps the plants to flower in early spring.

Malcolm and Marilyn White founded Otter Garden Centres in 1994 and have kept it a family business with roots in the local community.

The 60 Good Deeds pledge was made to benefit local communities during 2024.
