A popular cocktail bar in central Exeter has unexpectedly closed down until further notice.
The Terrace, located in the Guildhall Shopping and Dining Centre on Queen Street, announced its sudden closure on Friday, October 11.
The rooftop bar made this public announcement via a Facebook post.
The post said: “Please note that the venue will be closed from Friday, October 11th, until further notice. If you had a reservation with us or any other enquiries, please email exeter@theterraceexeter.com. We apologise for any inconvenience caused.”
On Wednesday, October 2, Exeter City Council received a planning application for a replacement fascia sign at the address of The Terrace.
According to an attached covering statement, the application was submitted by Maven Premium Bars, an investment group that develops and manages hospitality businesses.
The covering statement says: “The application site currently operates as a bar with ancillary food sales and the provision of dancing and entertainment.
"Maven Premium Bars are seeking to take over the property and operate this as a sports bar and kitchen.
"We are seeking permission for one replacement sign on the building’s ground floor elevation to replace the existing approved sign.”
A mock drawing of the proposed signage reads “Ludo Sports Bar & Kitchen.”
The first Ludo Sports Bar was opened in Bath in May 2023 and claims to offer the best of both worlds—classic sports food and your favourite games.
There are no further details on Maven's plans for the site, but we will update you when more information becomes available.
