A road in Exeter will be closed overnight tonight due to planned works.

Bad Homburg Way between the Park and Ride roundabout and Devon Hotel roundabout will be closed from 7pm, Wednesday, 9 October, until 6am 10 Thursday.

These works are the first in a series of overnight closures and the final part of Devon County Council’s road infrastructure improvements for South West Exeter.

The Government’s Housing Infrastructure Fund is supporting the development of 2,500 new homes on the outskirts of the city, with the following contracts awarded:

  • Provision of a new shared-use path and crossing on Bad Homburg Way
  • Realignment of Chudleigh Road and a new signalised junction
  • Widening of the A379.

The scheme to install the shared-use path and crossing on Bad Homburg Way began on Monday, 7 October, and isn’t expected to be completed until February 2025.

The new path will be on the western side of Bad Homburg Way, linking the new crossing to Dawlish Road.

The purpose of tonight's road closure will be to set up the contraflow system on Bad Homburg Way.

According to a post by Devon Alert at 14:42, a signed diversion will be in place.

The council predicts that additional overnight closures of Bad Homburg Way will be necessary in early December and again in the new year, with exact dates confirmed closer to the time via large signs mounted on trailers.
