This is your chance to join the latest batch of Exeter’s Red Coats as a tour guide.
Training for the popular and highly regarded volunteer post is soon to take place, and Exeter City Council have announced that they are keen to hear from anyone interested in the role.
Requirements for the position are simply to have a passion for Exeter and a love of walking and talking to people.
This award-winning guided tour group operates daily, offering free and varied walking tours throughout the year.
These tours give residents and visitors a chance to explore Exeter’s fascinating history.
Some examples of tours that took place this summer include: Forgotten Exeter, Tudor Exeter, Mediaeval Exeter, Exeter’s Historic Quayside, and Churches, Cemeteries, and the Catacombs.
Tour start times and locations vary across Exeter, depending on the specific tour.
Those who would like to be involved must be able to commit to training for the Red Coats two days a week on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
The training period runs from November 2024 until March 2025, and successful volunteers will be awarded their Red Blazer from the Lord Mayor in April.
