The Lord Mayor of Exeter will attend a free summer fete this weekend hosted by a local care provider.
Radis Community Care’s Exeter-based extra care housing service, Edward’s Court, is inviting the local community to a day of fun-filled family activities.
The fete, which takes place between 1pm and 4pm on Saturday, August 31, will be attended by the Lord Mayor of Exeter, Councillor Kevin Mitchell.
In addition to providing a day of entertainment for the community, the event aims to raise money for the Edward’s Court residents' activity fund.
The extra care service provides 53 one- and two-bedroom apartments, and its residents have access to a variety of on-site services, including a restaurant and a hairdresser.
Edward’s Court works closely with Exeter City Council and Devon County Council and also holds regular activities, groups, and classes for its residents, seeking to prioritise an independent way of living.
Attendees of the fundraising event can browse a variety of stalls and local businesses offering items such as jewellery, pre-owned clothes, home fragrances, and more.
The event will also feature a cake sale, face painting, games, bric-a-brac, a tombola, and live entertainment throughout the day.
Barbara Beames, activity coordinator at Edward’s Court, said: “We love bringing people together, and a summer fete is the perfect way to do that.
“It’s always a fantastic day, seeing the residents, their families, friends, and the local community come together in such high spirits.”
The summer fete will be held at Edward’s Court, Millbrook Lane, Exeter, and is open to the public.
