Europe’s longest-established taiko group, the Mugenkyo Taiko Drummers, are bringing their 30th anniversary tour to Exeter.
Taiko refers to a broad range of Japanese percussion instruments, and Mugenkyo’s concert is a fully theatrical experience with dynamic choreography and heart-pounding rhythms.
This will be their first major UK tour in almost 5 years.

In the meantime, Mugenkyo has been actively involved in several major projects, including collaborating on the ambitious "World of Gods" with the Scottish National Jazz Orchestra, filming the Hollywood movie "Tin Soldier" in Greece alongside Jamie Foxx and Robert DeNiro, performing in a two-week run at the World Expo in Dubai, and participating in the BBC TV Tokyo Olympics.
They also completed a 26-date run at the Adelaide Fringe, worked on the "Fire & Light" site-specific project, conducted regular online workshops and performances, and undertook the rebuilding of their purpose-built residential studio.
In addition to this, Mugenkyo have released 6 albums and 3 concert DVDs, making them the most artistically prolific taiko group outside of Japan.
They also perform at large-scale events and festivals at home and abroad and have appeared on numerous television programmes such as the Brit Awards, BBC Last Night of the Proms, and filming in India for Bollywood.

Reviews have described the concerts as exhilarating, forceful, and even primal.
The performance will take place at 7:30pm on Saturday, October 26, at the Northcott Theatre.
Tickets are £32, and the concert has a total running time of 130 minutes, including the interval.
