A Kenyan Fairtrade tea grower will be the guest speaker at a conference in Exeter to celebrate 30 years of Fairtrade.
Patrick Kaberia Muthaura will be giving an insight into Fairtrade tea production at the 30th Anniversary Conference on Saturday, September 14.
The conference gets underway at 10am and runs until 3pm at the Exeter Community Centre on St David’s Hill, Exeter.
The free event, which is organised by Fairtrade Devon & South West, is open to everyone and includes lunch.
Attendees are encouraged to make a donation.
The conference will celebrate three decades of Fairtrade achievements while addressing the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead in the next five years.
Muthaura’s discussion will highlight the challenges that farmers are already facing as a result of climate change.
It is a chance to meet people passionate about Faitrade, create new networks, and gain valuable insight into the future of the movement.
Cllr Matt Vizard, Lead Councillor for Climate, Ecological Change, and Communities, said: “In Exeter, we’re proud to support Fairtrade, and this free conference is a great opportunity for people to celebrate the achievements of the last 30 years and find out what’s in store for the future.”
You can book a place for the event on Eventbrite, or by emailing dde@globalcentredevon.org.uk
