Dan with his skydiving team
A man from Honiton is gearing up for an ambitious challenge next week: attempting to break the British record for the most skydives in a single day.
Dan Guest, 32, plans to make an astounding 51 jumps within a 24-hour period at Skydive Langar in Nottinghamshire.
Scheduled for June 11, 12 and 13, Dan's audacious feat aims to surpass the previous record set by his father, Andy Guest, who completed 50 jumps in a day.
To achieve this goal, Dan will need to execute a jump approximately every 11 minutes.
Dan said: “It’s going to be hard work but also a lot of fun. The most jumps I’ve ever done before in one day is 17 so this is going to be quite different. With that said, I’m confident we can make it happen and have the planes and the parachutes we need.”
A seasoned skydiver, Dan has represented Great Britain in numerous world-level events and holds multiple national championship titles.
Skydiving is a family affair for the Guests, with Andy, 66, sharing his son's passion for the adrenaline-pumping sport.
Andy, who is also from Honiton, said: “Daniel and I used to play in a table tennis league together. Anyone that has seen us play table tennis against each other would have seen the intense fast games we have, clearly showing the rivalry between us. So it came as a little surprise to me when he told me about his record attempt!
“Personally I wish them all the very best on their epic day, and I look forward to welcoming them in joining the 50 jumps in one day club.”
Accompanied by a team of fellow skydiving enthusiasts, including James Round, Elise Sharp, Martin Roberson, and Mikey Lovemore, Dan will have access to a Cessna 206 aircraft and a specially designated landing area to facilitate the record attempt.
Josh Carratt, Drop Zone Manager at Skydive Langar, expressed his enthusiasm for hosting the event.
He said: “It’s a pleasure for us to be hosting the record attempt, and we have put in place all the provisions required to give it the best chance of success.”
The original record was set by Andy Guest in 2022 at 50 jumps, done to mark the Queen’s jubilee.
Skydive Langar is the UK’s biggest skydiving centre, offering skydiving experiences for first timers through to fully qualified hobby jumpers.
Dan Guest’s skydiving team, Omni, is sponsored by Skydive Langar and has won multiple national championships, aiming to do the same again this year and also hoping for a medal position at the upcoming Skydiving World Championships in North Carolina, USA this October.
