Museums

Royal Albert Memorial Museum (RAMM)

  • Where: Queen Street

  • Why go: Explore natural history, world cultures, decorative arts, and Exeter archaeology.

  • Opening: Tue–Sun 10am-5pm, closed Mondays.

  • Cost: Free entry; donations welcome.

Exeter Phoenix

  • Where: Gandy Street

  • Why go: Contemporary art exhibitions, cinema, live performances, and workshops.

  • Opening: Mon–Wed 10am-8.30pm, Thu–Sat 10am-11pm

  • Cost: Free

Underground Passages

  • Where: Palace Gate

  • Why go: 14th-century medieval passages showing how water was supplied to the city.

  • Opening: Open All Year. Monday to Wednesday Closed. Thursday-Friday 11am-4pm. Saturday 10.30am-4.30pm. Sunday 11am-4pm.

  • Cost: Check website for prices. Book here

Historic Sites

Exeter Cathedral

  • Where: Cathedral Close

  • Why go: Stunning Gothic architecture and medieval stained glass.

  • Opening: Mon–Fri 9.30am-4.30pm; Sat 9am–4.30pm; Sun 11.30 am–3pm

  • Cost: Exeter Cathedral receives no regular funding from the Church of England or the UK Government to support its work, so visitors are asked to pay a modest admission fee. Your visit helps maintain and support one of Europe’s finest cathedrals for future generations.

Cathedral Entry Fees:

  • Adults: £10
  • Seniors & Students: £8
  • Children under 18 (within a family group): FREE
  • Exeter residents (postcodes EX1–EX4): FREE with Welcome Card
  • Exeter College & University of Exeter Students: FREE with Welcome Card

Rougemont Gardens

  • Where: Rougemont Gardens

  • Why go: Norman castle ruins and scenic gardens. Combine a visit to Rougemont Gardens with a walk along the city walls.

  • Opening: Open year-round

  • Cost: Free

St Nicholas Priory

  • Where: Old Tiverton Road

  • Why go: The oldest building in Exeter. 900-year-old building with museum displays and gardens.

  • Opening: Sun 1pm–4pm; Mon 10am–4pm. Or you can book a private guided tour on any day of the week.

  • Cost: Free
