City's new striker is 'thankful' for the opportunity

City's latest recruit, Mo Eisa, has given his first interview following his move on loan from MK Dons until the end of the season.

The 29-year-old Sudan international striker is the third capture of the January transfer window, and joins the club to bolster Gary Caldwell's attacking options.

"It's great that the deal is finally done as it has been going on for a while and now I can start focusing on my football," Eisa said.

"I knew there was interest and I just wanted to get out and play, and I have never played here before. There's been some fantastic strikers here and I want to emulate them if I can and help the team.

"The manager spoke about how he sees me in the team and that was a big thing - I knew straight away I wanted to play here. I know this league quite well and I've played in it so many times and scored goals.

"It was hard to leave MK, I love the club and they have been really good to me. It was hard to say I wanted to go but it was best for my football career, for me I know what I can do. I just want to play football and I am thankful to the manager for giving me the chance here. 

"If I do well here and enjoy it, you never know what can happen."

Eisa scored on his international debut with the Sudan national team in a 1–1 2026 FIFA World Cup qualification tie with Togo on 16 November 2023. He was replaced at half-time by his brother Abo, a Grimsby Town player, who was also making his international debut.

Earlier in his career, Eisa had unsuccessful trials at Norwich City, Southend United and Oxford United. He spent his early career in non-league football with Dartford, Leatherhead, VCD Athletic, Corinthian and Greenwich Borough.

He has played for a number of teams since including Greenwich Borough, Cheltenham Town, Bristol City, Peterborough United and Milton Keynes Dons.
