Exeter City youngster Ollie Watkins was in demand
January 29, 2018 - Former Exeter City star Ollie Watkins was being linked with a move to the Premier League.
The 22-year-old, who left St James Park for Championship side Brentford in 2017 had already attracted interest from a number of other clubs after an impressive start with the Bees.
Watkins had scored eight goals so far that season, and his form has been recognised by Bournemouth.
The then Cherries boss Eddie Howe was reportedly seen on a personal scouting mission and thought to be lining up a £6m bid for the attacker.
Watkins instead stayed at Brentford until September 9 2020 when he signed for Aston Villa for £28m, where he remains to this day.
Howe joined Newcastle on November 8 2021.
