Residents thanked for helping to shape the Exeter Plan

Almost 700 people attended public events

Almost 700 people attended drop-in events during the Exeter Plan consultation and there were more than 10,000 visits to the dedicated website, the Council has revealed.

Consultation on the plan closed on Monday (January 15).

The draft Exeter Plan document looks at how the city will evolve over the next 20 years. Once adopted, it will replace the current planning policies for the city, and it includes the locations of many of the developments which will be seen in the future.

Public consultation was launched on 23 October, and hundreds of residents took part in drop-in events across the city to give their views on how Exeter should develop in the future.

Cllr Emma Morse, Lead Councillor for City Development, said: “Thank you to everyone who has come along to an event or sent in their comments. The Exeter Plan is an important document for planning in the city, so it’s been great to hear the variety of feedback from people around the city.”

The consultation attracted a high level of public engagement, which included:

* Over 10,000 visitors to the survey website
* More than 3,200 responses with paper forms
* Almost 700 attendees at public events
* Fifteen city-wide events including library pop-up events
* A community workshop and five community pop-up events
* Now that consultation has closed the responses will be analysed alongside further evidence and the final version of the Exeter * The plan will be presented for further consultation later in 2024
