Rick Astley at Sandy Park last year
Exeter Rugby Club has secured full planning permission to host six live music events on the pitch each year between May 1 and July 15 (excluding bank holidays) for up to 15,500 people at each concert.
Party on the Pitch (POP2023) was well received by the people of Exeter, bringing popular acts Ronan Keating, Blue, Gabrielle and Rick Astley to Sandy Park.
Just weeks later 80s pop star Rick played Glastonbury and hosted a live New Year's Eve event on BBC TV.
Sandy Park is already accustomed to hosting rugby crowds of over 10,000 people so is well prepared and equipped to welcome the music loving crowd of the Westcountry.
Managing Director, Natasha Pavis, is delighted to get started on planning another Party on the Pitch.
“Now we have the green light to move forward we can put the wheels in motion to secure some big acts for 2025. Unfortunately, due to the timescale of securing full planning permission it made it impossible to secure the right acts for 2024. However, we see this as an exciting opportunity to have early discussions about 2025 and we can’t wait to go public later in 2024 with our plans.”
Having secured permission from Exeter City Council for the event to take place, preparations for which musical acts will help to make Sandy Park’s second summer concert a grand success are already underway.
