New Exeter visitor guide launched

New Exeter visitor guide launched

Cllr Laura Wright and the new Exeter guide

A new, free, Exeter visitor guide is ready to be picked up throughout the city and beyond.

Packed with diary dates, tips, advice and maps it's the ideal way to find a whole host of information, whether you are a local or planning a visit.

The guide has been produced by Clear Sky Publishing (the team behind this website as well as Exeter Tomorrow and Exeter Living magazines) in association with Exeter City Council.

Deputy Leader Cllr Laura Wright, Lead Councillor for Culture at the council has written a foreword for the guide.

She said: "Welcome to Exeter, a city steeped in rich cultural heritage dating back over 2,000 years. Exeter offers a unique blend of fascinating history, great places to eat and drink, and a thriving arts and entertainment scene.

"There are so many amazing things to see and do here, from visiting the Norman Exeter Cathedral, to exploring beneath the city’s streets on a guided tour of Exeter’s Underground Passages. Many of the city’s attractions are completely free of charge, such as the award-winning Royal Albert Memorial Museum and the Red Coat Guided Tours of the city, where you’ll hear some fascinating tales of Exeter’s past from the volunteer guides.

"Exeter’s Quayside is a short walk from the city centre and is a great place to visit all year round. Here you’ll find historic architecture, waterside cafes and restaurants and a year round calendar of events. It is also the perfect place to get active and try a new sport or activity, on or off the water.

"Having grown up in Exeter, I’ve seen many changes in the city over the years, and am extremely proud of the city it is today. As well as a vibrant cultural sector and some iconic visitor attractions, we have so many wonderful independent shops, cafes and restaurants, making Exeter a unique place to live, work in and visit."
