Fears of a housing crisis

There were concerns over too few houses being built

November 22, 2017 - A report warned Exeter would need to build houses more than twice as fast if it wanted to keep up with population growth.

The number of homes being built in the area dropped in the previous 12 months, and housing was growing at a far slower rate than the booming population.

That meant a looming housing crisis in the area if things didn't improve.

Exeter City Council said that it is always assessing housing need and a longer timeframe needs to be considered when looking at the data.
