BID backed by businesses

The BIDis responsible for promoting business within the city centre

November 8, 2019 - Exeter City Council announced that businesses in the city had backed a Business Improvement District.

First introduced in 2015, the organisation takes a levy from shops and businesses and in return promotes the city centre and organises and finances events like the Christmas lights switch-on.

Cllr David Harvey, Lead Councillor for Environment and City Management, said the news was great for the city centre and Exeter as a whole.

He added: “The BID is essential for maintaining a thriving city centre and financing events like the Christmas Lights switch-on. The BID is the heart-beat of our business community and having InExeter onboard for years to come allows our city centre to continue to thrive for shoppers and visitors alike.”
