Neil retires after 50 years' loyal service

Coastal Recycling has waved a fond farewell to long-term employee Neil Browne.

Neil has been with the Exeter-based company for 50 years when the average length of service in the UK is now four years.

Neil started his career with Devon County Council training as an engineer. After showing a keen interest in the waste industry and wanting his job to have a positive impact on society, he moved into a department designing and building waste management systems out of County Hall.

In the late 90s, after the privatisation of Devon County Council's disposal sites and the creation of Devon Waste Management (now Coastal Recycling), Neil became Company Engineer at the North Devon site.

For an incredible five decades, Neil has been an indispensable part of the Coastal family, bringing passion, dedication, and expertise to everything he does.

Neil, who turned 70 last month, is pictured here with the letters he first wrote in 1973, enquiring about a role, securing an interview and accepting the position.
