Warning to Ottery Tar Barrels visitors

Warning to Ottery Tar Barrels visitors

A young 'barreller' at last year's event

Due to the recent poor weather the organisers of the Ottery Tar Barrels event have made the decision to go to a wet weather parking plan tonight (Saturday November 4).

Visitors are being warned there will be limited parking for cars approaching Ottery from a Westward (Exeter) direction. When the car parks on the west side of Ottery are full, signs will be deployed at Daisy mount (off the A30) indicating that car parks are closed and will re-direct traffic towards the Otter Garden Centre car park. Again, when this car park is full signs will be deployed to indicate this.

A spokesperson said: "We ask that visitors to the event try to double up with friends/family who are also visiting the event so that we can reduce the number of cars attending.  We urge that people do not abandon their vehicles in and on any of the approach roads to Ottery, these are required as evacuation routes and are marked clearways."
