Exeter Chiefs and Welsh rugby fans received unfortunate news as 21-year-old flanker Christ Tshiunza will be forced to sit out until the new year after sustaining a broken foot during the match against Sale.
Tshiunza, who previously represented Wales in three World Cup matches, suffered the injury while making a return as a replacement in Saturday's Premiership victory. The incident appeared seemingly minor at first.
Exeter's Director of Rugby, Rob Baxter said: "It was a bit innocuous; he didn't come off with it. I don't think he thought it was a big deal at the time, then there's been some pain."
Subsequent X-rays and scans confirmed a fracture in one of the bones in Tshiunza's foot.
Tshiunza's absence from both Exeter and the Welsh national team will undoubtedly be felt, as he was considered a rising star in the world of rugby. The exact timeline for his return remains uncertain.
The Exeter Chiefs and Welsh rugby community will be offering their support and best wishes to Christ Tshiunza for a speedy recovery as they look forward to his triumphant return to the field.
