Exeter City Community Trust stages spookatcular fundraiser

There were some ghostly goings on down on Exeter Quay when Exeter City Community Trust staged its annual Halloween Run.
 
About 250 participants – many in fancy dress – took part in two races, over five and 10 miles, alongside the River Exe.
 
Exeter City Community Trust (ECCT), which is the partner charity of Exeter City Football Club, stages the events to generate income to support its work in the community.
 
Jamie Vittles, chief executive of ECCT, said: “We’d like to say a huge thank you to everyone who takes part in our events, which help to raise funds for our work in the city.

"We are very grateful to have vital sponsorship from our headline sponsors Tozers, as well as our community partners Exeter Live Better, Radio Exe, Trowers and Hamlins and the ILEC Group – whose generosity enables us to contribute profits from the event to our work in the city.
 
“Thanks also to our staff and volunteers who work so hard to ensure our events go smoothly.”
 
The organisation also offers free places to local charities – this year it is supporting Exeter Leukaemia Fund (ELF), Julian House, Alright Mate? CIC and Children’s Hospice South West.
 
The fastest man home for the 10-mile event was Ieuan Galvin and the fastest woman was Victoria Scrowston. Sam Bailey was the first male over the line in the five-mile event, with Judith Bond, the first female.
 
The charity is now planning for its popular city centre Santa Run event, which takes place on Sunday December 3. Choose from the 2.5k family fun run or 5k distance – all through the city centre streets.
