Fans wait to hear about the  future of speedway in Devon

Plymouth is the only speedway track throughout the whole Westcountry still operating

Plymouth speedway promoter Mark Phillips is yet to confirm if the club will definitely run next summer.

The pressure is on however, as he needs let the British Speedway Promoters’ Association know by the time they meet for their AGM in Tenerife in November.

Dozens of fans turned out for a meeting on October 13 the future of Plymouth Speedway was discussed and what needs to happen to move forward into 2024. 

In an interview Phillips said: “We are not out of the woods yet, but we are cutting a few trees down. We are about a quarter of the way there and I think I need about an extra £40,000 because that’s what I lost this year.”

After several closures in recent years, including Exeter, Plymouth is the only speedway track throughout the whole Westcountry still operating.
