Exeter City and Chiefs women results

Saturday October 21, 2023 - Exeter City were punished for missed chances, as they were beaten 2-0 by Wigan Athletic at St James Park, as the Grecians poor League One form continues.

Despite pouring on plenty of pressure towards the end of the game, Exeter could not find a way past the away defence, and an early Martial Godo strike, and a late Will Aimson own goal saw the hosts defeated.

Speaking after the game, Exeter City Manager, Gary Caldwell, said: “The effort, application and desire was excellent, so I can’t fault that.

"But what I can fault is the little details in the final third and not conceding first, it’s a habit we are starting to get into and you are always chasing the game from that point."

“We have to penetrate better, instead of going around we have to try and go through teams, I think we had good opportunities to do that and we chose a safer option.

Exeter Chiefs Women put in a near-relentless performance to secure a 69-17 win at Sandy Park over Sale Sharks in the Allianz Cup competition. Eleven tries, including a hat-trick from Harriet Millar-Mills, thoroughly entertained the home crowd with plenty of youthful talent on show.
