Iconic hotel's flats plan approved

October 10 2022 - Approval was given to turn Exeter’s Royal Clarence Hotel into luxury flats .

The historic building was destroyed in a fire in 2016.

Exeter City Council's planning committee unanimously approved the £17 million plans for  23 luxury apartments, a restaurant and a bar.

The iconic Grade II listed building dates back to 1769 and overlooks Exeter Cathedral. It has been said by historians to be the "oldest hotel in England".
