The University of Exeter has been placed in the global top 50 for two key areas of an influential league table.
Exeter has been ranked 38th worldwide for International Outlook, placing 38th, and 40th for Research Quality in the Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings, released today (Wednesday, 27 September 2023).
The rankings, first published in 2004, are based on 18 indicators grouped into five key areas – teaching, research environment, research quality, industry and international outlook. More than 1900 universities are assessed as part of the rankings.
Exeter has been placed 177th in the world in the overall rankings, and 23rd in the UK.
The THE World University Rankings are the latest notable success for Exeter.
Earlier this month, the University was named runner-up in the prestigious University of the Year award for the second successive year in the influential The Times and The Sunday Times Good University Guide 2024. Exeter also saw a rise in the overall rankings, moving up two places to 11th nationally.
