Historic win for the Grecians

More than 7,300 supporters watched Exeter City secure their place in the next round of the Carabao Cup last night.

Demetri Mitchell's 83rd minute goal against Premiership side Luton sent the St James Park crowd crazy.

Mitchell was sent off five minutes later for a second yellow card, but Exeter held on to progress to the fourth round for the first time in 34 years and earn their first victory over a top flight side since beating Leicester 3-1 in the FA Cup in 1981.

"For us to have a Premier League side come here and play the way we did, the players were absolutely outstanding," said manager Gary Caldwell.
