Exeter City fans celebrate their team's promotion to League One on April 26 2022

This month marks marks a remarkable landmark for Exeter City Supporters' Trust, which is celebrating 20 years of fan ownership.

The tale of Exeter City's resurgence is one of dedication, unity, and an unwavering love for the sport.

Over the past two decades, trustees, volunteers, community champions, club staff, and loyal supporters have come together to save their beloved club and propel it to its current League One standing.

The inception of the Exeter City Supporters' Trust was born from the inspiration of the Northampton Trust's efforts.

A small group of founding members, recognising the perilous trajectory of their football club, dared to dream that they could do a better job than the so-called 'professionals' who were at that time in charge.

This diverse group of supporters brought a wide range of skills to the table and their dedication was unwavering.

In February 2003, 22 Trust members made a solemn vow. They pledged to convince the other 400-plus members to change the Trust's original constitution from merely 'supporting' the club to 'owning' it.

This defining moment marked the turning point in Exeter City's history. The Trust members united in their resolve to take control of their destiny, and together they changed Exeter City FC’s fortunes.

The past two decades has been a journey filled with triumphs and challenges, but the spirit and dedication of the Trust and its supporters never wavered.

As Exeter City FC and the Supporters' Trust celebrate this remarkable 20th anniversary, they reflect on a journey that encapsulates the very essence of football – a community coming together to preserve a cherished institution, ensuring that the beautiful game thrives, not just on the pitch, but in the hearts of its supporters.
