Chiefs trio named in England training squad

Exeter, September 21, 2017 - Exeter Chiefs trio Jack Nowell, Henry Slade and Harry Williams were named in England’s training squad.

For Jack Nowell, this call-up was another chapter in a remarkable journey. Just a few months prior, he had been a part of the British & Irish Lions squad that ventured to New Zealand. The tour had been a grueling test of skill, determination, and endurance, but Nowell's resilience and unwavering commitment had not gone unnoticed.

Eddie Jones, the head coach of the England national team, recognised Nowell's incredible talent and welcomed him back into the fold.

As the 33-man squad was announced for a training camp in Oxford, there was a twist. Four players who had been integral to the British & Irish Lions' success were conspicuously absent. Among them was Kyle Sinckler, the fiery prop who had played a crucial role in all three test matches against the formidable New Zealand All Blacks.

The surprise omission of Sinckler was partly due to the emergence of another exceptional talent - Harry Williams of Exeter Chiefs. Williams had been a force to be reckoned with in both the domestic and international arenas. His scrummaging prowess and remarkable work rate had earned him a seat at the training camp table.

With England's training squad assembled, the stage was set for an unforgettable clash of rugby titans. The autumn internationals promised to be a thrilling spectacle, with Nowell, Slade, and Williams, the Exeter Chiefs' finest, at the heart of the action.

England went on to win all three of their matches in the 2017 Autumn International Series.
