Cars were snowed in by the Beast from The East
March 1, 2018 - It was six years ago today that Storm Emma, dubbed the 'Beast from the East', arrived in Devon.
Storm Emma's was one of the biggest weather events to hit the county and brought severe disruption with high winds and heavy snow.
Hundreds of schools were closed, drivers were snowed in and police and authorities issued warnings not to travel.
Two weather warnings were in place covering the whole of Devon. Snow began to fall in most places at around 4am, with up to 50cm of snow in some places.
It caused Exeter Airport to close and train services were delayed or cancelled. The bus network in Exeter and Torquay shut down in the afternoon, while lorries became stranded in snow on the A38.
