Nectar360, the operator of the UK’s largest coalition loyalty scheme, Nectar, has extended its partnership with the Woodland Trust until 2027.

This collaboration allows customers to support vital conservation efforts while earning rewards for their everyday shopping.

The partnership, which launched in 2021, builds on a successful corporate relationship between Sainsbury’s and the Woodland Trust that began in 2004. Over the years, the alliance has achieved significant conservation milestones, including planting over 5.1 million trees and protecting more than 2,000 acres of woodland across the UK.

Customers can now earn 20 points for every £1 spent on Woodland Trust memberships online, directly funding conservation initiatives. They can also collect triple points on popular Sainsbury’s products, such as apples, eggs, chicken, turkey, and reusable bags and cards.

For those wishing to make an even greater impact, Nectar points can be donated to fund Woodland Trust projects, including creating wildflower meadows, planting trees, and restoring woodlands. For example, 500 points help create wildflower meadows, 2,000 points can plant a tree, and 5,000 points restore woodlands, capturing up to one tonne of carbon annually.

Amir Rasekh, Director of Nectar360, said, “The partnership with the Woodland Trust offers customers a simple way to support the environment while earning rewards. As part of Sainsbury’s Plan for Better, the company is committed to protecting and regenerating natural ecosystems, and collaborations like this are key to achieving those goals.”

This partnership also highlights Sainsbury’s commitment to sustainability through its Plan for Better strategy, which focuses on reducing carbon emissions, food waste, and plastic, while improving recycling, water efficiency, and biodiversity efforts. The extended collaboration provides customers with more ways to engage with these goals, reinforcing both Nectar’s and Sainsbury’s dedication to environmental stewardship.

Rasekh added, “Through the extended partnership, we’re proud to offer our customers tangible ways to contribute to sustainability while rewarding them for their efforts. This initiative reflects our commitment to making a positive environmental impact, both now and in the future.”

The Woodland Trust, founded in 1972, is the UK’s largest woodland conservation charity. With more than 1,000 woodland sites under its care, the charity works to protect ancient woodlands, restore damaged ecosystems, and create new native woodlands to benefit wildlife and communities. This partnership ensures continued support for the Woodland Trust’s vital work, enabling customers to play an active role in protecting the natural world.
