Exeter unites with the Devon and Plymouth Chamber

The Devon & Plymouth Chamber and Exeter Chamber have merged to create a powerful new voice for businesses across Devon.

This newly formed Devon Chamber unites two major business organisations, offering enhanced support and resources for all businesses across Devon, and increased access to networks and services for existing Chamber members.

Members in Exeter and Plymouth will continue to benefit from local support through their respective boards.

As part of the merger, members will automatically gain access to a wider range of resources from both Chambers.

This includes participation in over 100 annual networking events, a stronger platform for business promotion, and additional support services through the British Chambers of Commerce.

Exeter and Plymouth Chambers will retain their distinct identities and member offerings within their respective regions.

However, all members will now have access to benefits at the county level and through the British Chambers of Commerce, an especially valuable addition for Exeter Chamber members.

Richard Stevens, will remain Chair of Plymouth Chamber, has been appointed Chair of the newly created Devon Chamber. Richard said: “This is a landmark moment for the Devon business community.

By combining the strengths of Exeter and Plymouth Chambers, we’re forming a dynamic, collaborative organisation that will amplify the voice of businesses across the region. Crucially, this isn’t just about Exeter and Plymouth—our mission is to build a Chamber that serves all businesses in Devon, from the cities to smaller towns and rural areas.

We’re dedicated to ensuring that every business, no matter where it’s located, has a voice at local, regional, and national levels.”

Steve Gates, the current Chair of Exeter Chamber and now Vice-Chair of the new Devon Chamber, said: “The merger gives Exeter Chamber strength from unity with Devon and Plymouth Chamber but also increased capacity to focus on Exeter issues for the city’s business community.

“The Exeter Chamber team and board will continue to represent businesses and facilitate business success by providing opportunities to connect, gain insight and grow. “

 The new structure took effect from 1 October 2024.
