5 fun things to do this weekend in Exeter

1. MARKET
Exeter Quayside Farmers’ Market
18 April
Head to the lively Exeter Quayside Farmers’ Market from 9am–1pm this Saturday at Piazza Terracina for a taste of local flavour. Expect fresh fish, bread, olives, honey, beer, vodka, as well as indoor plants, flowers, and craft and charity stalls. Can’t make this date? These markets take place monthly, every third Saturday of the month.
2. FILM
Jo in the Water + Q&A
18 April
Documentary Jo in the Water follows a passionate sea swimmer turned reluctant activist, Exmouth-based Jo Bateman, as she takes on one of the UK’s biggest water companies in a David-and-Goliath battle to protect our waters from devastating sewage pollution. This screening will be preceded by the short Salmon Run and followed by a Q&A with Jo Bateman, Dir. Pip Piper and Co Founder of the Salmon Run project Jo Salter. 3.30pm at Exeter Phoenix.
3. MUSIC
Counter Culture: An Evening of Comic Record Shop Tales, Vinyl Quizzes & a Charity Vinyl Giveaway
18 April
Head to 12 Bar Music and Social on Paris Street for a relaxed and funny evening celebrating the strange and brilliant world of record shops. The night brings together true stories from behind the counter, a vinyl-themed quiz with prizes, an open Q&A, and a charity vinyl giveaway - where guests can take home quality records (some signed) in exchange for a £10 donation.
4. ART
Looking for Appearance
On now until 2 May
This exhibition at Thelma Hulbert Gallery in Honiton showcases work from a wide range of leading figurative artists, both contemporary and historic. As a collection, these works reflect the artists’ personal ideas and processes in exploring visual appearance.
The gallery is open Tuesday–Saturday, 10am–5pm, and admission is free.
5. FAMILY
Teach Rex
18 April
Teach Rex uses life-like dinosaurs to perform a 1-hour show, teaching children about the anatomy and life of one of the most mesmerising creatures that has ever roamed our planet. The show is enhanced with effects and music, and gives children and their families the chance to get up close and personal with these fantastic, realistic beasts.
Suitable for children of all ages (3+ recommended).10am and 12.30pm at Exeter Corn Exchange.
