A new inclusive Valentine’s Ball is coming to Exeter Castle

This February, Exeter is shaking up Valentine’s Day with a brand-new alternative ball - designed for absolutely everyone, not just couples.

Created by Exeter-based bar specialists Bar Nova, who are known for bringing fresh bar concepts to venues across the UK, the inaugural event promises an epic night of food, music and dancing in one of the city’s most iconic settings - none other than Exeter Castle.

“This is not just a couples’ night!” says Faye Williams, co-owner of Bar Nova. “Galentine's, mates, work groups, bring your mum - message the girls, surprise your wife, tell everyone! What to expect

The Valentine’s Ball kicks off at 7pm on Saturday 14 February at Exeter Castle, with street food and a fully stocked bar available throughout the evening. Live music begins at 7.45 pm, featuring two bands, including West Country group Bill Ding and the Skyscrapers, who’ll be serving up their trademark high-energy mix of funk, soul, rock, and pop.

DJ Filthy Dirty Disco takes over the decks at 10.45pm, keeping the party going until midnight (glow sticks included!). There’ll be plenty happening on the night, from fire performers to a photobooth - all in the name of having fun.

Bar Nova is hosting a second Valentine’s event on Friday 13 February, designed specifically for 16–18-year-olds. This alcohol-free “clean club night” offers a safe and fun way for younger guests to celebrate, with doors opening at 6.30pm, a warm-up act at 7.30pm and a main DJ set from 8pm until 10.30pm, followed by chips before the venue closes at 11pm.
