October issue out now!

Welcome to our October issue! What connects hip-hop, Tony Blair and the stars above? Not the start of a bad joke, but the autumn programme from Agile Rabbit, a Devon-based organisation bringing world-class thinkers to the South West. In an age where meaty conversations have been reduced to angry soundbites on social media, Agile Rabbit provides something refreshingly different: intelligent, engaging talks that invite curiosity, conversation and debate. In this issue, we meet the directors to hear more about how they’re opening up big ideas - from politics to planets - to anyone who fancies listening, learning and, yes, even challenging.

So what else does October have in store? Quite a lot, as it happens. We’ve rounded up the best autumn day trips to make the most of Devon's colourful landscape. If you prefer your outdoors with a side of art, don’t miss the new photography exhibition at Haldon Forest - an inspired pairing of nature and creativity.

The diary is, indeed, filling fast: Autumn fairs at Exeter Cathedral, and in McCoy's Arcade, off Fore Street; the return of fireworks and Halloween celebrations, from the family-friendly to the spectacularly spooky. And for culture on a grander scale, the Van Gogh immersive experience at Exeter Westpoint promises to be a dazzling highlight.

Finally, as the nights draw in, we turn our attention to fireside escapes in our travel pages and warming, comfort-filled recipes from Harry Hook. Have a happy autumn!
