Sustainable Fashion Show hits Exeter city centre this Thursday

This Thursday, 25th September, Exeter city centre will host a fashion show with a difference. Students from Exeter College are swapping conventional fabrics for recycled and unconventional materials, turning discarded items into bold, runway-ready designs as part of Princesshay's We Can do More week.

The fashion show will take place at Princesshay Square, with two showings - one at 12pm and the second at 1pm. Students from the college’s Art and Design faculty will showcase and model their creative designs: first-years will present outfits crafted entirely from paper, while second-years will display pieces made from upcycled garments. A giant screen behind the catwalk will reveal the “making of” process, giving audiences an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at how the outfits were created.

To add to the production, Exeter College’s Music and Hair & Beauty students will also contribute to the shows.

“This is the third year we’ve worked with Exeter College,” says Hannah Overton, Princesshay marketing and commercialisation manager. “We love being able to put a spotlight on incredible emerging talent and how the students are thinking about the future of our planet.”

Hayley Grace from Exeter College adds: “We’re extremely proud and thrilled to showcase the creativity and commitment of our students work in a fashion show at Princesshay's We Can Do More event. Sustainability lies at the heart of the UAL Extended Diploma Fashion and Textiles course, and we encourage students to think creatively about sustainable alternatives and solutions when developing their projects.

"This collection not only celebrates innovative design but also thoughtful, sustainable craftsmanship reflecting the future of fashion. Students have done a spectacular job to gather research, experiment, design and
make their final outcomes in just three weeks."
