True crime fans are in for a chilling treat this May as ‘Murder: Staged’ comes to Exeter Northcott Theatre - complete with a live psychopath test and real-life staged crime scenes.
The two-hour forensic psychology talk, hosted by Cheish Merryweather, takes place on Thursday 8 May at 7.30pm, and delves into the mind of a new kind of criminal: the forensically aware killer.
“The ‘CSI effect’ has created a new type of killer – one that is forensically aware and is out to mislead an investigation,” said Cheish, a research psychologist and psychopathy expert who has appeared on the BBC.
‘Murder: Staged’ explores cases where murderers have tried to disguise their crimes, from covering up homicides as suicides, to creating red herrings at crime scenes. Using in-depth forensics, real case reconstructions and behind-the-scenes knowledge, the show aims to reveal how experts spot the lies and find the truth.
It follows a sell-out tour across the UK and brings new cases to the stage that haven’t been shared live before.
Cheish added: “There will also be a live psychopath test – a good indication of who we really should be keeping a close eye on.”
With a reputation for blending academic insight with darkly compelling storytelling, this is one talk that promises to keep audiences on the edge of their seats.
The show is suitable for ages 16+ and includes a 20-minute interval. Tickets can be purchased here.
