Joel Munday, Devon-born violinist
Exeter Philharmonic Choir is set to deliver an extraordinary evening of music as it joins forces with the renowned London Mozart Players and Devon-born violin virtuoso Joel Munday for an all-Mozart concert at Exeter Cathedral on 15 March 2025.
The programme will feature Mozart’s Great Mass in C Minor, a choral masterpiece performed by the 100-strong Exeter Philharmonic Choir alongside an impressive lineup of soloists: sopranos Lucinda Cox and Daisy Walford, tenor Ruairi Bowen, and bass Tim Mirfin. Joel Munday will showcase his exceptional talent with a performance of Mozart’s rarely heard Violin Concerto No. 1 in B-flat Major.
Conductor and Musical Director Howard Ionascu expressed his enthusiasm for the concert: “Who better than the London Mozart Players to accompany Exeter Philharmonic Choir for an all-Mozart programme? The Great Mass is a cornerstone of the choral repertoire, and we are thrilled to present this magnificent work in the stunning surroundings of Exeter Cathedral. We are also delighted to welcome rising star Joel Munday back to Devon to perform with us.”
The London Mozart Players, one of the UK’s most distinguished chamber orchestras, are known for their exceptional artistry and dedication to both classical and contemporary works. Their collaboration with Exeter Philharmonic Choir and Joel Munday marks another milestone in their ongoing mission to bring world-class music to audiences across the country.
This event also serves as The Lord Mayor’s Concert, attended by the Lord Mayor and their consort. A retiring collection will be held in support of the Lord Mayor’s chosen charity, FORCE Cancer Charity.
