What's on this weekend and beyond in Exeter
Here's our weekly guide of what's on this weekend and beyond in and around Exeter.
Head to Daily Bowl, on Queen Street, for Noche Latina, an uplifting evening that gives a musical home to Exeter's Spanish speaking diaspora, and is open to all to celebrate Exeter's rich diversity. Lumi Centurión Segovia is the MC for the open mic sessions. An art educator and musician who hails from Paraguay, he keeps the evening hopping! Expect beer, wine, mojitos, and other hot beverages, plus warming plates of food - think blue corn tostadas topped with beans, vegan cheese, pico de gallo salsa, and chimichurri sauce.
Rock Hudson and Doris Day star in this classic screwball comedy. Expect zippy dialogue, pacy scenes and loads of laughs. This nostalgic Cinema screening at The Gateway Theatre in Seaton will have soft lighting, subtitles, relaxed table seating, and refreshments served throughout. Whilst promoted as a dementia-friendly screening, anyone who loves nostalgic films is welcome.
Fancy volunteering locally but not sure what’s available? Head to Exeter Cathedral to connect with local organisations, charities, and non-profits and learn how you can get involved. Whatever you're passionate about, this is your chance to discover a wide range of volunteer opportunities that match your interests. 11am- 2.30pm.
Welsh former international rugby union referee Nigel Owens is heading to Exeter Corn Exchange for a special evening, where he’ll be recounting stories from his life and career. Known for his stellar refereeing and witty one-liners on the pitch (check them out on YouTube, it’ll raise a smile), it’ll be an evening not to miss for any rugby fan. There’ll also be an opportunity for a Q&A during the second half of the evening. 7.30pm, doors open at 6.45pm.
Our March is out now! Not sure where to find it in the city? You can pick up a copy at Hyde & Seek, Artigiano, Sacred Grounds, John Lewis (top floor), Guildhall Shopping Centre, Bernaville Nurseries, and Darts Farm. You can also read it online here.
