Weekend looking sparse? Here's our pick of events going on in Exeter over the next seven days.
EXPERIENCE
10 and 11 February
EXETER CITY COMMUNITY TRUST HALF MARATHON
Head down to the Quay this weekend for the Exeter City Community Trust Half Marathon which takes place on Saturday and Sunday. Cheer on the runners as they take part in the sold out event which heads out along paths beside the river.
Darts Farm will be hosting a day of delicious free tastings from their in-house experts and artisan producers; from bean-to-bar chocolate (made on the premises in front of your eyes) to sparkling wine (produced at the vineyard a short walk away)! Meanwhile there is plenty of outdoor space for the kids to blow off some steam on the farm walk, nature trail and in the play area.
With buckets of audience participation and gallons of giggles, this spectacular celebration of the longest-running children’s television show in the world will delight Sooty fans old and new. Stay on after the show to meet Richard and Sooty!
Fancy some football under the lights? Exeter City are taking on high flying Derby County at St James Park on Tuesday evening. Always an exciting atmosphere, the Grecians are looking to build on their improved home form. Kick off is at 7.45pm, get there early and grab a pint and pasty before the action starts!
In this issue we shine a light on the thriving literary scene in and around the city, chatting to local writers Fiona Williams (our front cover star), and foodie Orlando Murrin; plus, we have all the latest on upcoming book festivals, our favourite local bookshops, library events, and so much more! With Valentine’s Day just around the corner, we take the opportunity to talk about all the things we love locally - food to love, places to cherish, stories to ahh over.
