Multi-million pound plans to develop land next to Holsworthy Agricultural Business Centre to give a major shot in the arm for the region’s economy will go on public display next Monday (April 20).
Torridge District Council will be hosting public consultation to reveal its proposals for the 100,000 square foot site which surrounds the existing business centre and livestock market in New Market Road.
The council intends to use £7.3million in government funding, part of a £20.7m package previously awarded to Torridge via the Community Regeneration Partnership (CRP), to provide much-needed commercial space and infrastructure in Holsworthy.

The public consultation on April 20 will be held at the Market Hall, Holsworthy between 2.30pm and 6.30pm.
The proposals will be on display and the project architect and project manager will be on hand together with council representatives to discuss the plans with residents and businesses and answer any questions.

Councillor Ken James, Leader of Torridge District Council, said: “We hope that as many people as possible will come along to hear about the infrastructure proposals that we have for the land at Holsworthy Agricultural Business Centre.
“This site has been a longstanding priority for us as a council, so I am delighted that we are now at a stage where we can share plans and gather feedback ahead of our planning submission.
“We hope that this project, along with the other projects that have received funding under the Community Regeneration Partnership scheme will help to increase ‘home-grown opportunities’ to encourage young people to stay in the area rather than move away."
The council has previously said the centre would focus on agricultural innovation, retail and professional spaces.
The livestock market at Holsworthy is already one of the largest in the South West and the funding would be used to develop the infrastructure for extra retail and professional space around the site.
