Delight for Deon Moore. Pic from PPAUK
Torquay United produced an extraordinary first-half performance at Slough Town to inflict a brutal 5-1 defeat on the shell-shocked hosts.
The Gulls did the damage in the space of just 16 mesmerising minutes, Dylan Morgan on the scoresheet again before Jordan Young doubled the lead and Deon Moore smashed in a quickfire double to kill the game as a contest.
Untied were able to stroll through the remaining hour and the only frustration from an outstanding display was the concession of a late consolation to Jaiden Celestine-Charles, which Reece Evans took personally, adding a fifth for the Gulls in stoppage time.
Morgan provided an insight of the carnage to come by striking the woodwork inside two minutes and when Seb Stacey made a routine block at the other end, Slough were put to the sword.
Fresh from his excellent hat-trick in the 4-1 defeat of Weston-super-Mare on Easter Monday, Morgan was in the goals again on eight minutes, executing another lovely finish to break the deadlock.
The tepid response from Slough was swiftly snuffed out and Young broke home spirit with a second on 16 minutes, Dan Hayfield feeding a pass into the feet of United’s left-foot wizard, and he did the rest.
Moore has been a vanguard tank since arriving at the start of the Jimmy Ball era and he finally got the goal his efforts have warranted over the past weeks, tripling the advantage with a close-range finish.
Moments later, the former Maidstone man had two in the space of a few minutes, finishing off a rapid counter. Three quarters of the game still to go, and United were 4-0 up!
The hosts did settle down for a spell but the Yellow Army were already celebrating three points, as Matt Jay rattled the crossbar to complete a wonderful first-half. There was an understandable lull in the second period, although Young did go close to a fifth before the hour.
Thoughts were already turning to the visit of Hemel next week when Celestine-Charles provided some home cheer with a curling finish, but the last word fittingly went to United, Evans converting a cross from Charlie Osborne.
