Open water swimmers are being invited to take the plunge for the RNLI this August with a swim challenge at the picturesque Clovelly harbour.
The charity dedicated to saving lives at sea is organising six iconic coastal swims around the South West between May and September, with Clovelly’s event taking place on Sunday, August 2 from 7am to 11am.
The challenge is for intermediate or experienced sea swimmers who can choose between one or two mile swim routes from the harbour and along the stunning coastline.

All participants must be aged 18 and above on the day and all must provide their own wetsuit – no one will be allowed to take part without a wetsuit.
The RNLI recommends a swim-specific wetsuit as they provide extra buoyancy and every swimmer must be able to complete one or two miles of open water swimming.
Dave Nicoll, RNLI fundraising and partnership lead said: “There’s something for everyone in this swim series.
“By joining an event near you, you can make the most of stunning coastal landscapes, community spirit and a shared goal of supporting the RNLI’s lifesaving work.
“All sponsorship raised helps ensure volunteer crews have the training and equipment they need to answer the call, day or night.”

Entry is £40 per person, with £35 early bird options available between now and May. Swimmers are asked to pledge to raise at least £100 in sponsorship.
