A double donation from NFU Mutual to two vital Devon health providers will make a real difference to local patients.

NFU Mutual Tiverton and South Molton has made equal donations of almost £8,000 to South Molton Community Hospital and Hospiscare via NFU Mutual’s national Agency Giving Fund.

The £7,899 donated to South Molton has enabled the purchase of a HoverJack, a specialist inflatable lifting device that safely raises patients who have fallen while keeping them supported and lying down.

At Hospiscare, the funding will have a meaningful impact on patients and their loved ones during some of life’s most challenging moments.

Emily Mills, from NFU Mutual Tiverton and South Molton, said: “It means a huge amount to us as a team to be able to give something back.

“Many of our staff, colleagues, friends and clients have relied on the care and support provided by Hospiscare and South Molton Hospital over the years. Both are vital parts of our local community, and being able to support them through this donation is incredibly rewarding.”

Sarah Hulland, Clinical Nurse Manager at South Molton Community Hospital, added: “We are extremely grateful to NFU Mutual for making the HoverJack possible.

“It will make a real difference for patients and staff, allowing us to safely lift patients after falls and improve care beyond what’s possible with NHS funding. Community support like this helps us continue providing compassionate care.”

Kate Constable, Royal Devon Hospitals Charity community fundraiser, said: “This generous donation is a perfect example of how local communities can enhance patient care alongside the NHS. Organisations like the South Molton League of Friends, supported by NFU Mutual’s Agency Giving Fund, make a real difference for local hospitals and patients.”

Ellie Melmoth from Hospiscare said: “We are incredibly grateful for your generous donation from NFU Mutual Tiverton and South Molton. Every pound raised by the community plays a vital role in helping us continue to deliver our specialist end-of-life care, supporting patients and their families when they need us most.”
