Torquay’s festive ice rink has become one of the stand-out attractions of this year’s Bay of Lights, with most December sessions now close to selling out after a surge in demand.
The real-ice rink, set up on Torquay seafront for the first time in several years, has seen “an incredible first week”, according to organisers, who say only limited slots remain across the rest of the month. Christmas Eve, Boxing Day and New Years Day are already almost fully booked.
Although the rink can hold up to 120 people, organisers have capped capacity at 80 skaters per session to keep the experience comfortable and avoid overcrowding.

In a statement on social media, organisers said: “What an incredible first week! It’s been truly amazing to bring a real ice rink back to the Bay and see so many happy faces enjoying the experience. Weekend sessions are almost sold out - book early to avoid disappointment, but we are open every day and throughout the Christmas holiday!”
The rink has received a wave of five-star reviews from visitors praising the setting, atmosphere and return of real ice to the Bay.
