Rowcroft Hospice’s popular Christmas Tree Collection Service is returning in January, offering households across South Devon a simple, eco-friendly way to dispose of their festive firs while raising vital funds for local end-of-life care.
Residents in selected postcodes can register their tree for collection in return for a suggested £10 donation. Volunteers will be out across Torbay (TQ1–TQ5), Totnes (TQ9), Newton Abbot (TQ12 only) and Teignmouth (TQ14) between Tuesday 6 January and Friday 9 January 2026.
“We’re so grateful to everyone who makes our Christmas Tree Collection Service possible, from the incredible volunteers to the generous supporters, we couldn’t bring it back each year without you,” said Lisa Whitaker, Rowcroft’s Corporate Fundraiser.
“We’re also delighted to have the support of our partners, Torbay Clearance Services, who are helping make this year’s scheme possible. The collection not only helps your local hospice provide specialist care for patients and families facing the toughest of times, but it also takes the hassle out of disposing of your Christmas tree after the festivities.”
All trees collected will be chipped and recycled by Devon Tree Services, with the mulch used to enrich Rowcroft’s gardens.
Rowcroft supports around 2,500 patients and their loved ones each year, with 80% cared for at home across Dartmouth, Dawlish and Dartmoor. As hospices continue to face rising costs and increased demand for care, the charity is urging local residents to support the scheme.
Every donation makes a direct contribution:
The hospice’s Hospice at Home team provides 24-hour support in patients’ final weeks, while its 12-bed Inpatient Unit in Torquay offers round-the-clock specialist care in a calm, homely environment with access to gardens and home-cooked meals.
With 75% of its funding coming from public support, the charity says community fundraising remains essential.
Registrations for the Christmas Tree Collection close at 11.59pm on Sunday 4 January 2026. All decorations must be removed before collection.
