Torridge District Council is reminding residents there will be some changes to its waste and recycling collections over the Christmas period, with some typically a day later.
The council has said it wants to thank the people of Torridge for their continued commitment to recycling throughout the year and said their efforts make a real difference in reducing waste and protecting the environment.
The council’s refuse and recycling crews will be taking a well-deserved short break over the festive period, so there will be no kerbside recycling collections on Christmas Day, Boxing Day, or New Year’s Day.

Collections will resume on other days during the holidays, but as is normal, residents should be aware some may be a day later than usual. Check the list below for your collection dates.
As in previous years, there will be no garden waste collections between Monday, December 22 and Sunday, January 4. These will restart on Monday, January 5, 2026.
Councillor Chris Leather, lead member for operational services, said: “We’ve had a fantastic year for recycling and I want to thank all Torridge residents for their ongoing support and cooperation. Your efforts help our crews and make a big impact.
“Please remember to ‘wash and squash’ your plastic bottles and cans as this simple step allows us to collect twice as much recyclable material on each round. Merry Christmas and a happy new year!”
