Runners of all ages and abilities braved the elements on Sunday to take part in the Exeter City Community Trust’s annual Marathon and Community Five Mile event.
Despite mixed weather conditions, hundreds of participants laced up their trainers to follow the scenic routes along the River Exe and through Riverside Valley Park, cheered on by supporters and volunteers lining the path.
The event is a flagship moment in the charity’s calendar and this year raised almost £4,000 for Exeter City Community Trust, the official charity of Exeter City Football Club.
“The Marathon and Five Mile event is one of the highlights of our year,” said Jamie Vittles, chief executive at Exeter City Community Trust.
It’s about more than just running – it’s about bringing people together, raising funds for good causes, and promoting health and wellbeing across our community. We’re so grateful to our sponsors and to everyone who took part, supported, volunteered or donated.”
Funds raised will support the charity’s ongoing programmes focused on education, inclusion, and health and wellbeing in Exeter and the surrounding area.
The day ended with celebrations at the Piazza finish line, where volunteers welcomed runners across the line with cheers and encouragement.
